Faculty Advisor
piecz001@umn.edu
I’m Dr. David Pieczkiewicz, Clinical Associate Professor and Director of Graduate Studies at the Institute for Health Informatics. I am a 2007 PhD graduate of this very program! I spent three years at the Marshfield Clinic Research Foundation in Wisconsin before returning in 2010 as a faculty member. I am primarily a teacher, and regularly teach courses on basic informatics, databases, analytics, and data visualization. My research interests include data visualization and its use in decision making, data science, and historical epidemiology. I also have undergraduate and graduate degrees in anthropology, with a biological and medical emphasis. I spend most of my waking hours with computers, but I do enjoy unwinding and going offline by cooking in the kitchen.
